Bowling
OPENING OF BOWLING SEASON Bowlers are enthusiastic over their favourite pastime and in spite of the wretched weather on Labour Day there was a gathering of over 40 members and friends, including visitors from all over the County, to formally open another bowling season. After a brief speech from the president, Dr. H. G. Rix, Mrs. Rix threw the jack with the usual ceremonial, and play was continued at intervals throughout the day.
The prospects for the season are of the best, the green being in first class order and the members keen. The new green laid down is not yet sufficiently consolidated for play this season, but will be used by the Croquet Club. Mr. J. T. B. Taaffe has presented a handsome Cup for competition, which will be allocated by the Committee.
