Up-to-Date Farming
Mr. W. A. Holman, K.C., a former Labour Premier of New South Wales, in a speech advocated intensive agricultural methods for turning the land to more profitable use than wool and wheat. He declared that it was a misitake to suppose that the methods of the past 50 years should continue. New Zealand was leaving Australia a long way behind in this respect. Mr. Holman claimed that the present crisis was causing some farmers to exploit newer forms of primary production, showing that some were prepared to adapt themselves to changing conditions.
