FAREWELL TO MISS POLDEN
Miss Polden, who has been engaged in missionary work among the Maoris for the past eight years was entertained by the Pukepoto Natives at a social gathering in Rarawa hall on Friday evening, and presented with a travelling rug as a parting gift. In doing so Herepete Rapihana (Herbert Robson) eulogised the great work, spiritual and material, Miss Polden had done for the Maoris. As a personal gift he presented her with a beautiful feather shoulder mat, which had been given him years ago “for the doing of a great piece of work.” An interesting musical programme was given by the Maoris, and they and their pakeha guests bade Miss Polden an affectionate farewell, with many good wishes for her health and happiness.
