HINTS FOR HOUSEWIVES
To ensure floury boiled potatoes do not add the salt to the water until they are nearly cooked. Fish to be boiled should first be tied in a piece of muslin. This will facilitate removing and draining without fear of breaking. Metal moulds used for cakes and pastry should not be cleaned with any very gritty substance, which will remove the tinning. Wash in very hot soapy water, rinse, and when dry polish with whiting applied on a wash-leather.
