The weather, as is not its custom, was fine, and nothing occurred to mar a very enjoyable afternoon. Besides many local players there were guestsi from the Matangirau and Totara clubs, the number of players and onlookers totalling over 60. The refreshments provided by the lady members helped in no small way to make the afternoon the success it undoubtedly was. Mrs. Fryer drove the first ball over the net. Mr. Fryer, in declaring the courts open, said that a very successful season is anticipated this year. Tournaments are to be arranged, and it is hoped that there will be a number of matches with other clubs.
