ON THE COURTS.
COUNTY COMPETITIONS COMMENCE. SEASON OPENS AT PROMISING STANDARD. First day of the season usually sees play very patchy in quality, but the opening game of the county tennis competitions last Saturday produced some close matches, of a standard that promises well. Playing on the local courts the Kaitaia A team won 7 —6, while the B team, playing at Awanui, lost 10 —9. Meeting Victoria Valley on the latter’s home ground, Peria won 12 —6.
