Delegates' Meeting

Fixtures Arranged

The Annual General meeting of the Mangonui Cricket Association was held in the Valley on Saturday 2 r.h., Mr. H. H. Thompson presiding. The following delegates were "present: Messrs H. H. Thompson, J. Dawson, Valley, L. J. Matthews, Mi'. Wrathall, Mangonui, W. N. Perkins, W. Dale, Kaitaia, P. H. Dow, Broad wood. Die minutes of the last Annual meeting were read, and on the mot on of Mr. Perkins, seconded by Mr. Dale, were confirmed.

The Secretary read and explain d the balance sheet which was duly adopted, the credit balance being £2-18-1. The election of officers resulted: Patron— H. B. Matthews Esq. President —H. H. Thompson Esq.

Vice-Presidents —L. Shine, A. Panther, P. W. Treacher, H. Bowman, W. Fergusson, J. Wansbone A. if. Long, P. Thode, John Hutley, A. M. Wright, M. Thornell, J. Sharp.

The former secretary handed in his resignation, ablv explaining his reasons for so doing. Upon the motion of Mr. Dawson, seconded by Mr. Thompson, it was decided to accept Mr. Matthew’s resignation with regret and to place on record the Association’s appreciation of his excellent services. Mr. Dow was appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr. Matthews wished to place on record his thanks to the ladies of the Valley for their hospitality during the season and especially during the Shield match with Whangarei.

It was decided that the Club delegates form the management committee and the selection committee for the coming season.

The selection of a delegate to represent Mangonui at the meeting ol the North Auckland Cricket Association was left in the hands of the Chairman and Secretary.

The opening day was fixed for 9th. November and following is the draw for the Ist. round: —

9th Nov.— Mangonui v Broadwood at Broadwood. Valley v Kaitaia at Kaitaia. Herekino a bye.

I6th. —Mangonui v Kaitaia at Kaitaia. Broadwood v Herekino at Herekino. Valley a bye. 23rd.— Valley v Herekino at Herekino. Kaitaia v Broadwood at I road wood. Mangonui a bye. 30tb. —Mangonui v Valley at Valley. Kaitaia v Herekino at Kaitata. Broadwood a bye. 7th. D c. —Valley v Broadwood at Broadwood. Mmgjnui v Herekino at Herekino. Kaita : a a byer " Discuss on took place re the undercoving of wickets to prevent bumping. It was recommended that all wickets have a layer of malthoid or similar substance. Mr. Berk ns supplied figures re cost and Mr. Dawson explained the met! od of laying. W. Wrathall proposed that matches commence at 10 a.mand stumps be drawn at 4.30. Seconded and carried. Spirited discussion ensued re the tardiness of home teams, and delegates were asked to have their men extend the usual courtesy to visitors bv turning out on time. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
