Mangonui County Council.

A Meeting of the above Council was held in the Council Chambers, Kaitaia,on Wednesday, November 28tl. PresentMessrsJ N Berghan, C J E Barribald, E Evans, T S Houston, D Kitchen W Vickers and R T Wrathall. An appology vas received from the Chairman, Mr Long for non attendance. Minutes The minutes of tke previous meeting were confirmed as circulated. Messrs Vickers-Beighan resolved : That Mr Wrathall take the chair in the absencejof Mr Long— Carried. Messrs Vickers —Berghan resoived: That the minutes of the Special meeting of October loth making a Special Order to raise a Special Loan of £4OO for road works on the Herekino-Whan-gape Road be confirmed and that the Seal of the Council be affixed thereto. Peria Cemetery —Change of Name Messrs Barriball —Wrathall resolved: That the name of the Peria Cemetery be changed to the Oruru Cemetery. Heavy Traffic Regulations Messrs Wrathall —Vickers resolved : That a reply to letter from the Engineer-in-Chief re Heavy Traffic Regulations be left in the hands ot the Engineer and Clerk to reply to. Access Jamesons Road Messrs Barriball —Vickers resolved : That the question of a deviation to give better access to the above property be left in the hands of the Riding member to ,deal with. Access to Kitchen, Tracey and Kitchen The district Engineer wrote “statrr# that a bridge 130 ft will be necessarylo abovesettlers’ properties and ast.ed whether the Council was prepared to assist. Messrs Kitchen—Berghan resolved : That the Council contribute the sum of £SO towards the above bridge on condition that the settlers contribute £55 in cash and £ls in labour. Closed Roads Messrs Barriball—Wrathall resolved : That the Council approve ot the valuation of land of roads to be closed adjoining Coulter’s and Costall’s properties as made by Messrs Garton and Matthews. Road Access Wilkins’ Inlet « A. A. Wilkin wrote protesting against payment of rates until the Council provided a road access to her property. The present access is by the sea. Consideration deferred until Riding Member is present. Road Deviation—Apaterewa J. T. Wrathall wrote istating that he would be prepared to sign consent to taking road through his property provided that the Council fenced the upper side of road to bridge peg. Messrs Wrathall —Berghan resolved : That the sum of £lO be allowed in full settlement for road deviation. Carried. Tracey’s Road Messrs Wrathall —Berghan resolved : That the question of repairs to D. W. Tracey’s road be rtferred to the riding member and Engineer to deal with. Billiard Room License It was resolved that subject to report being recthe Police that Mr. 1. a*. Awanui. Deputations D. Smith and 4 other settlers

from Unahi Road waited on the Council urging that in addition to the amount of Government Grant £IOO and Council’s subsidy thereon that an additional 40 chains of the road be formed with the power grader and balance of road be repaired.

Messrt Wrathall—Berghan resolved : That the matter be left in the hands of Mr Evans to deal with and report to next meeting —W Steed’s request for payment of £5-17-0 cost ot drain pipes. Messrs Vickers —Houston resolved : That Mr A Powell be appointed Traffic Inspector and Tax Collector for the Herekino Riding for the year 1929. Tenders Messrs Kitchen —Vickers resolved : That the tender of E White for Te Rore Bridge at £l9B-18-8 be accepted subject to the approval of the Highways Council. Messrs Kitchen —Evans resolved : That the tender of E J Doak £225-10-0 tor earthwork be accepted. Contract No. 123—Takahue— Herekino Junction Messrs Vickers —Berghan resolved : That the tender of J F Curreen at 3/6 per yard be accepted. Herekino —Whangape Mr C H Coghlan— 4/b per yard forspawis; 2/6 crushing. Messrs Vickers—Evans re 0 ved: That Mr Coghlans tei dtr be accepted. Church Road S A Christensen —630 yds shingle, £330-15-0. O F Weiner—63o yds £351-13/-Messrs Houston —Kitchen resolved : That the tender of S A Christensen be accepted. Quarry Road _D J Smith—metal 6/6 per yard. That a warning be given Messrs Slater Bros against damages to road through using chains on lorries in carting timber on the Takahue Road. Costall’s Bridge The question ot effecting repairs to Bridge on Costall’s road be left in the hands of the Riding member and Engineer to deal with. Payments.
