Football Dance At Fairburn
The above dance took place on Wednesday evening last and proved to be a very successful and enjoyable function. The floor was in splendid order and Mrs Glynan’s Orchestra supplied excellent music.
A large crowd assembled early in the evening; visitors being present from all parts of the County. Mr “Ted” Faker carried out his duties as M.C. in a capable manner, and kept things going with a swing throughout the evening.
A beautiful cake donated by Mrs R Gardiner was raffled and realised the sum of £2 14/-, Mrs R Edwards being the winner. Two boxes ot chocolates raffled by Mrs A Christensen and Miss E Gardiner respectively realised 23/- and 21/- each. The ladies of the district provided a dainty supper which was fully appreciated. Mr T J Coulter briefly thanked all those who had assisted to make the function a success, also the public for their hearty support. The total proceeds he said amounted to £lO 5/- and after ex penses had been paid the Club funds benefitted to the extent of £6 5/-.
The function was undoubtedly an unqualified success and a great deal of credit is due to the secretary, Mr Ivan Stanton, for the result.
