(To the Editor)

Sir, —A reply to a letter of mine appeared in your issue of June 1 under the non-de-plume of “Not Altogether an Idiot”’which during my absence from Kaitaia was replied to by Mr J C Marsh ; but let me suggest that whether the title chosen by the writer is apropriate or not, surely the title “Not Altogether a Man” must apply to any person who would not sign his name to a letter in reply to one, to which the writer had attached his name. Throwing bricks from behind a stone wall is not a man’s game. Regarding “Not Altogether an Idiot’s” concluding remarks: —“Mr Lewis must endeavour to bring forward' bigger and weightier arguments if he wishes to convince even only a few of us that the factory should still be in Kaitaia.” I would ask why does “Not Altogether an Idiot” try to resurrect a matter that has been dead for years, and a matter not mentioned in my letter. The factory has been built at Awanui and we must all do our best to make it a success. I am sure there is not one supplier, idiot enoughjto wish to have it shifted back to Kaitaia again. It would be rather interesting to know the relationship between “Not Altogether an Idiot” and the one who tried to resurrect the site question at Kaitaia at the Extraordinary General Meeting, held on June 9, if the address given by “Not

Altogether an Idiot, Kaitaia South” was not yet another piece of deceit. 1 am etc Dan Lewis
