A Valuable Donation

To Group Herd Testing Association. By Mr D Johnson Awanui A Pedigree Jersey Bull Caii The Directors of the Mangonui Group Herd Testing Association held a meeting yesterday when an offer was received from Mr D Johnson, the noted Jersey breeder of A. wanni to donate a pedigree Jersey bull c&lf to the Association. The idea wh: h prompted Mr Johnston to make ttiis offer was that it shall be the means of helping to improve the standard of cows owned by the person lowest on the testing list under the Group testing system ot the Association. Mr Johnson considers that this will help a farmer, who in the opinion of the Assoc.atiou is the most deserving of having the bull calf allotted to him. A transfer will ba given at the end of the year. The Association of course will h ive to set up a committee 0 d ial with tins matter. At present it is suggested that applications might be asked for from fanners testing und®r the group system. Mr Johnson’s liberal donation will be appreciated by those who d. s re to sea the breed of dairy suck in the County imptovei. This should inspire other farm s who have made considera e progress in the dairying r 'ustry to make aimilar donations to the Association in order that the industry as r whole in . s district may be placed on e •,n a better footing than it is in to-day.
