Okaihau-Auckland Railway.

Writing to Colonel Bell, M.P., the Rt Hod J G Coates, Minister of Railways, says “With reference to the question asked by you in the House regarding the running of a daily express service between Opua, Okaihau and Auckland, I have pleasure in advising you that colhmencing on sth December next the express trains will run daily between Auckland and Opua for the summer season. v With the advent ot the daily running of the expresses, the following further alterations to the local services will be necessary

The 1.25 p.m Okaihau-Kawa-kawa train and the 4.45 p.m Ka-wakawa-Okaihau train will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as well as on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, in ord-*r to give a daily connection for Okaihau with the “up” express from Auckland. The 8.15 a.m Okaihau-Kawa-kawa train will run 00 Thursdays and Saturdays as well as on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, thuu giving a connection with the express for Auckland on live days of the week. On Tuesdays the Okaihau service is required to maintain the 6.25 a.m train from Okaihau in order to provide a,connection with the train leaving Otiriu at 8.20 a.m., for livestock from Knikohe branch to catch tne Wednesday market at W estfield. The6.4sa.nl. Okaihau-Kawa-kawa, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday’s train will not run on Th ursdM»or Saturdays, a closei connection with the down express being provided on those days as outlined above. The 8.45 a.rtiKawakawa-Opua and 9.40 a.m. Opua-Kawakawa

Saturday trains will be discontinued. These trains have been run by the service of the early train from Okaihau and as this train will run later to connect with the express it will not be available for the Opua run. Very few passengers made use of the Saturday morning trains and I do not think any great inconvenience will be caused by the discontinuance. There will still be tke 11.45 a.m. train from Kawakawa on Saturdays for Opua. The present 3.15 p.m. Whan-garei-Opua train will leave Whangarei at 3.25 p.m. and will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays instead ot on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays,
