Owing to the rush to get to press on Wednesday a paragraph in our report of the Girl Guides’Concert was unfortunately “dropped.” This included a complimentary reference to little Jean Lewis’ recital of “Lawkarrnercy Me” in "Brownie Play” and her associates Miss McKinnon and little Peggy Lewis. It was a.n entertaining part - and these little girls are to be com* lamented upon.

Some complimentary references were made to the Kaitaia Amateur Theatrical Co. on l uesday for their further efforts to raise money for the Kaitaia Hospital, by the Chairman, Mr T S Houston. He then mentioned that a native troupe was touring the County giving Hawaiian concerls and were billing themselves as performing in aid of the Hospital funds. Knowing something of the movement he felt convinced that there would not be much for the Hospital. It was not right that anyone, should tour in behalf of the Hospital without the sanction of the Board. It was decided that the Chairman investigate this matter and if necessary he be em powered to prevent this company Irom using the name of the Board for the purpose of attracting crowds to their entertainment. A turther resolution was passed that no company be permitted to use the Board’s name with the object of raising funds unless the Board was assured that it would receive at least 50% of the nett proceeds.

At the last meeting of the Mangonui Hospital Board an offer to place his dispensary at the disposal of the Mangonui Hospital Board for the purpose of the K titaia Hospital was received from Mr W K Hounsell. It was pointed out that this would mean that the Board would be saved the expense of establishing a dispensary. The Board decided to ac cept the offer and to give it a trial for six months.

When the queslien of appointing a porter lor the Kaitaia Hospital was under consideration at tne Mangonui Hospital Board meeting on Tuesday it was slated tuat it would be a good idea to have a married couple at the Hospital. The idea is that the wife could do the cooking and the husband officiate as porter. So far as wages were concerned it was considered that £3 per week and the Keep of Pom would be a fair thmg. Mr Kitchen said: “They would practically have £3 a week clear, and there are lots of people to-day who get £6 a week who do not have £3 a week clear.” Mr Michie "They are not clearing £l a week. I know I would not mind if 1 had £3 a week dear after meeting all expenses”

“Elizabeth” was the name bestowed upon the Girl Guides bride don.
