SEVEN-A-SIDE RUGBY. SCHOOL TOURNAMENT. \ HONOURS TO AWANUI. The schools tournament conducted by the M.R.U. took place at Kaitaia on Saturday, some iute'esting games being witnessed. Awanui A team emerged victo ious and were awarded the caps. Play resulted as follows : First Round. Kaitaia A (13) defeated Waipap B (0). fries were scored by Stuart Matthews and Joe Puckey, the former converting twice. Pukepoto A (6) defeated Kaitaia B (0), For the winners Robson and job scored tries. Vic o.ia Valley (12) defeated Takahue A (0). A. Panther scored two tries and P. Panther and J. B ard one each. Waipapakauri A (19) defeated Pukepoto B (3). For the winners Thompson scored three tries and kicked two goals, and F. Harrison scored a try and converted it. P. Jon scored a try for Pukepoto. Awanui B (5) defeated Peria (0). Wallace scored and Rice converted. Awanui A (21) defeated Mangonui (0). W. Tobian made a break with four tries, and J. Hutley crossed once. T. Anderson converted thrice. SECOND ROUND. Kaitaia A (3) defeated Victoria Valley (0). Stuart Matthews scored a try. Pukepoto A (3) defeated Awanui B (0). This was the longest game of the tourney, the time being extended to decide supremacy. Robson scored the deciding try. Awanui A (3) defeated Waipap A (0). Awanui’s try was scored by E. Bird. Kaitaia B (6) defeated Takahue (0). For the winners Gordon Bell and T. Berghan each secured a try. Waipap B (3J defeated Pukepoto B (0). The winner’s try was got by N. Ujder. Peria (3) defeated Mangonui (0). S. Kitchen scored. Kaitaia A [9] defeated Waipap B [o]. S. Matthews secured two tries, D. Gallagher one. Awanui A [6] defeated Kaitaia B [o]. T. Anderson scored two tries. Peria [3] defeated Pukepoto [o]. B. Yates scored a try for the winners. Awanui A [3] defeated Kaitaia A [oj. W. Tobian scored the winning try. Final. Awanui A [6] defeated Peria [o]. The trygetters were Marshall and T. Anderson. Messis Mawhinney, Mclntosh and Mitchell acted as referees.
