FLOODED OUT.
the past week we have 1; rain and the nurses been i: .led out- of their rooms as usual. This sort of thing is causing great discomfort and dissatisfaction and I regret to state that if something is not • done immediately the Board will be faced with the resignation of the whole of the nursing staff.” So wrote Matron Newth to last week’s meeting of the Mangonui Hospital Board in asking that certain improvement be carried out. Nurses and patients also complained about the cold and damp coming through the windows and doors of the wards which are temporarily closed with anything that will serve the purpose. It was resolved that the architect be asked to prepare a draft plan with the estimate for the additional improvements. The chairman and Mr. Barriball are authorised to have necessary repairs effected to nurses’ quarters.
