HOSPITAL BOARD.
Same members. Mr. A. H. Long in chair. The Director General, in reply to the request for the erection of a cottage hospital at Kaitaia stated that the type of institution the Dept has in mind as suited to the needs of Kaitaia is a maternity cottage hospital of some four beds with an extra bed or two for accommodation of urgent surgical or accident cases which are too ill to be removed with safety to Mangonui. Messrs T. li. Kenny and D. Archibald, representing the Chamber of Commerce, waited on the Board seeking further information regarding what the Board was doing. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs Long and Kitchen that Mr. Berghan, Mr. Kenny and Mr. McKinnon be a committee to inspect and negotiate for a suitable site for the cottage hospital and to ask that an officer of the Dept be asked to inspect such site and if found suitable for the purpose to approve of the same at the earliest possible date. The committee is to meet to morrow.
