CHURCH ROAD CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor). Sir,—While perusing the columns of your last “Age” I noticed a letter signed “Be Truthful,” apparently written by a person who’s mind is no bigger than that of an army mule. As this letter was apparently written by a person who can on nq account leave himself open to an attack after a long peiiod of lying innuendo, I conclude he must have got some dopey friend to see it safely placed belore the Editorial chair. Had I known when the Editor asked me to send him along a few items of news from Church Road that it was going to cause such a lot of backbiting I should have referred him to some one else, if only for the sake of peace and quietness. Owing to the many uplifting incidents I have witnessed since August 1914, a few of them passing through my mind now I am glad I am unable to descend to “Be Truthful’s” level and answer his letter in detail. Although his letter is a slur from start to finish I think he is more to be pitied than blamed, but while attempting to slur Church Road Correspondent he should have more sense than to drag the names of onr school teacher and minister, also the Holy Bible, into it. As far as the hatred of myself is concerned, he is something like the Hun regiment who worked themselves up to fever pitch by singing the Hymn of Hate and then dashed their heads against the forts of Verdun while the French looked smilingly on. No, Mr. Editor, that kind of nonsense wont do, and if I were the person who wrote the letter I would tender a humble apology through the press to his friend whom he has made scapegoat of, and the pair of them in future cease quoting the Bible andjadvising other people to be truthful, and take for heading something light, such as “Comic Cuts.” I am, etc., CHURCH ROAD CORRESPONDENT.
