MANGONUI RUGBY UNION.i

A meeting of the Management Committee of the above Union was held in the Kaitaia Library on 20th May. Present ■ Messrs F. Banks (chairman), Hayden, A. C. Douglas, A. Bateman, W. L. Evans, H. C. Williams, J. Manuel, C. McKinnon, L. Mawhinney,and secretary (R. J. Truscott). Resolved, that the fixing of dates for junior matches in Northern Division be left in the hands of the secretary. Resolved, that an insurance account be opened by President and Treasurer in Post Office Savings Bank. Resolved, that J. Harris be written to re Te Kao junior protest. Proposed, that a seven-a-sid’. team be not sent to Whangarei while fix tures are on. Amendment, that a team be sent provided sufficient men are available, and local matches on June 3rd be cancelled if necessary. Amendment carried. Resolved, that four names be solicited from each club for seven-a-side tournament on sth June at Whangarei. Resolved, that Hokianga representatives be asked to visit our Union on June 17th, and each Union bear its own expenses in connection with inter-Union fixtures. Resolved, that Walter Evans and W. Subritzky be regraded from senior to junior.

Proposed, that J. Tynan replace E. Housham on the Selection Committee. Amendment, that W. L. Evans replace E. Housham on the Selection Committee. Amendment carried.

Resolved, that M.R.F.U, take charge of all gate receipts, deduct 20 per cent and amusements tax, and forward balance to Club secretaries. Resolved, that charge for admission to Club matches be I/- for gents and 6d for ladies. Resolved, that Messrs Bateman, Hayden, and Mawhinney be a committee to assist secretary with regard to fixing gate appointments and conditions re amusements tax. Resolved, that Houhora play home and home matches with Te Kao. VICTORIA VALLEY V. HEREKINO This game resulted in a win for Victoria Valley by 8 to 6. TE KAO V. HOUHORA. This match was played at Houhora on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Te Kao by 14 to 3. The ground was very muddy, but the game was very strenuous. The Te Kao backs were much smarter than Houhora, the latter being mostly new men.
