CHURCH NEWS.
FAIRBURNS. At the public meeting held in the Fairburns Church on Thursday evening nine members were appointed to fill the vacancies caused by death, removals and those who voluutarily resigned. In addition to thfe three of the old trustees who were returned, six new members were elected, viz., Messrs. H. Parker, J. M. Dawson, R. B. Coulter, W. Metcalf, J. P. Coulter and O. Fisher. Mr. J. W. Hoskin, one of the old oiiginal trustees, and who held the office as treasurer, did not seek re-eiection. At a subsequent meeting Mr. T. J. Coulter was again appointed as secretary, whilst the treasurship was entrusted to Mr. H. Parker. It was decided by the board to erect the church fence early in June.
The Presbyterian Minister, Rev. W. Elliott, M.A., conducted service at Fairburns on the 7th. His subject was “ Life’s Opportunity,” and there was a good attendance.
