Mr. J. B. Thompson, Chief Drainage Engineer, left Auckland for America by the Niagara last week, accompanied by Mrs. Thompson. Prior to his departure Mr. Thompson was socially entertained by members of his staff from all parts of New Zealand which was a striking tribute to his personality. Colonel Bell leaves for Auckland next week to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, which starts on Tuesday, 25th inst.,at 2 p.m. Mr. W. McKenzie, organiser for the N. Z. Farmers’ Union, has arrived with his family and taken up his residence in Kaitaia. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Holder have returned to Kaitaia. Mr. McCormick has arrived from Auckland and taken up his duties with the Farmers Union Trading Co.
