On the 9th March a meeting by the kind permission of Mr. J. Jccentlio was held at hie house at Peri* by the delegates representing the suppliers to the Oruru-Fairhurn butler faotory, The business of the meeting wae to form themselvee into a Cow-testing Association. Mr. F. Rhodes was elected chairman and Mr. Albert Maria sc-oretary aud treasurer. After this had been done Mr. Harris, the faotory manager, gave some very interesting and useful information re cow-testing. After some discussion the secretary was instructed to write to tho Dairy Commissioner as to the probable cost of the outfit. Mr. Harris said the cost would he about 1/ per cow and after the initial outlay the oosb of the upkeep would be very small. It is*to he hoped that all the dairymen i» the district will join th* Association, because it is for their benefit alone that tho thing has been started. A Government expert will vieit the factory onoe a month and will do all the testing free. Copies of the regulations aud by-laws.of the Association are being printed and when they oom* to hand will be distributed among th# suppliers. Mr. Harris has been untiring in his efforts to have a oow-testlng association formed, and he deserves the thanks of all the dairymen in th# district for his seal in the matter.
