FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 1912. The New Cabinet.

The formation of the new ministry to sucoeed that of Sir Joseph Ward has caused a considerable amount of speculation throughout the country during the week, and we are now able to give a list of the membevs of the Cabinet, with the exception of one portfolio, still vaoant.

We think that the choice of ministers will give general satisfaction, as amongst them are men who have had great experience iu municipal politics, and have proved themselves likely to be successful iu the greater responsibilities they have now been called upon to take. The different portfolios have not been arranged quite as anticipated, but no exception can be taken to most of the appointments. Naturally there will be disappointment iu some cases, but the Cabinot should give general satisfaction. The choice of Mr. T. McKenzie as Premier and inclusion of Mr. MaeDouald will satisfy the farmers as they are both supporters of the freehold. Mr. Hanan’s appointment as Minister of Education should be a popular one, as he always has taken a most keen interest in educational matters, and was very successful as Chairman of the Education Committee in the House in 1907. Mr. Myers as Minister of Finance is the best solution of the difficulty arising from the resignation of Sir Joseph Ward.

We feel sure that if anything occurs to cause the fall of the McKenzie administration, which of oourse the opposition papers already prognosticate, it will not come from disagreements amonggt them.selves, but from the disaffection of members outside the Cabinet.
