'AUTOMATIC EGG-BOILER.
The accompanying diagrtun illustrates the principle of an ingeniou* I automatic egg-boiler. From one end of the beam of a pair of scales an egg in a wire holder is suspended 'in a saucepan of water kept boiling. Sand from a sand box trickles into
the scale at the other end of the beam at surh a fate that by the time the egg is done the weight of sand accumulated in the srale sends it down (see dotted lines) until it rests upon a small push pin, and so rings a warning electric hell. EASILY PERFORMED. A A borrowed coin is placed in the centre of an unprepared handkerchief. The conjurer folds the handkerchief down the middle, and on opening it the coin has vanished. This trick is easily performed in the following manner
The handkerchief Is folded down the centre, forming a tube, the performer picking it up quickly, allowing the coin to slide into his hand. On opening the handkerchief it*itt found to be perfectly empty.
