Ngaheia Sheep Sale.

“ What in the future will be looked upou as an epoch in the live stook business in the North.” Such was the apt remark by a southern attendant of the clearing sale of sheep at Mr. Jas. Close’s Ngaheia estate, Bay of Islands, on the 30th January, oonducted by the Auokland Farmers’ Union, Limited. The arrangements for the penning of the sheep for sale were admirable, and everything, to use a sporting phrase, went with a swing from start to finish. The weather conditions were perfect and a large number of sheep-breeders from all over the province were present, several having come from Auck-

land and the Waikato. The sheep were in good healthy condition, and the young ewes especially were the subjeot of favourable comment, they elicitiug very keen competition. We are pleased to state that nearly all the ewes are remaining in the Northern distriots, and should do much to improve the different Hooks of the North. The following are a few of the prices obtained: — 2 and 4 tooth ewes £1 7/6 to £2 19/; 6 and 8 tooth £1 2/to £1 10/; fresh full mouth to £1 5/. Ewes, lambs, to £1 5/Lamb rams 2£ to 3 guineas. Bams (130 sold), 2 tooths to 8 guineas; 4 and J tooth, 3| to to 7 guineas.
