OUR NEIGHBOURS.

PERIA.

(From our own Correspondent.)

Cold south-west winds, driving and very wet showers, sheets of water abundantly plentiful, mud galore; catarrh, sneezing, liberal use of handkerchiefs and stacks of other things follow-in the wake of this weather. Oh, Verdant clad Spring, tarry not long from us; but may we soon he wrapped in thy warm embrace!

I met a friend on the road the other day and while we chatted for a few moments a genial ray of sunshine struggled out to cheer üb. My friend remarked “I believe we are going to have an early Spring.” When we parted I could not but think that his faith was larger than a grain of mustard seed.

I am sure I am voicing the regrets of all our Debating Society members when I say that we were greatly disappointed when the subject of “ Capital Punishment ” had to go by default owing to the weather. However Messrs. Quartleyand Nawton may be able to get it in later on, In my next, sir, I hope to report the debate on “ Military Service*”
