An excellent story used to be told in University circles about Ranjitsinhji. It was said that on qne occasion at the beginning of his career he had .made a good score in an important match. The good news was duly announced to his father in his distant Indian State. The message that potentate returned was as f'Tlqws : “It is well ; I have sacrificed a hundred sheep.”
