The young man had just gone out of the shop when tho assistant who had attended to him called up thb shop-walker. “Did you hear that young fellow?" he added, nodding towards the door where the customer had gone out. “No ; what was the matter with him ?" “He wanted a pair of knickerbockers to play football in.” “Didn’t he get them?” “He did not.” ( “Why not ? We've got plenty." “Yes, but he wanted flesh-coloured ones." “Well, we’ve got them.” “No, we haven’t I showed them to him, and he turned up his nose and said that wasn’t his flesh-colour. Ho said he wanted them black and blue.”
