SEASONS GREETINGS

IT is our pleasure and our privilege to wish our readers “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” We have endeavoured to make this, our Christmas Number, a source of enjoyment to our reaJers and a credit to the North. It can be readily understood that the production of this issue has entailed considerable trouble and expense. I'hat trouble and expense we gladly offer to oar readers as an acknowledgment of the splendid support we continue to receive. It is, and ever will be, our constant endeavour to push forward the North, and if at times all our actions do not quite accord with some individual judgments, we are nevertheless conscious that this journal is already recognised by all as a power for good in the district in which it holds an unique position. If we have so far done well we hope to do still better in the future, and it will always be our aim to deserve that high degree of popularity accorded the “ Age ”

during the past year. We are aware that in this we shall need the loyal support ot our many friends. To our district correspondents, and to those who have otherwise occasionally contributed to our columns, we owe -and we offer our very warmest thanks. Through the coming year we intend to endeavour to still further deserve this willing co-operation, and to do all in our power t:> help forward every movement which has for its object the advancement of the interes s of the North We do not make rash promises, and if we do make resolutions it is not necessary for us to put them in black and white. Having made them, however, it is our ambition to abide by them, and to do all in our power to justify a still wider influence and popularity. Working in this spirit, and ever mindful of the responsibilities which rest upon us, we trust that next year we shall he able to greet even a wider circle of readers with that good oldjsalutation —
