—+ — An old maiden lady from Bristol, named Susanne l’ordler, whose age, she herself admits is eighty-three years, has just published all the letters she has received during her life containing ofTers of marriage, in connection with a recent newspaper coatest for an ideal love letter.
Incidentally, the? old lady wishes to show that if she has remained single so long it was not because of the lack of opportunities, as malignant tongues would have it.
Her letters, just published, number 8,969, and were written by 375 men. Of these one is a general of the army, another a commodore, 2 are colonels 33 lieutenants, 102 orderlies, 46 captains of merchant vessels, 4 engineers I aeronaut, 10 chauffeurs, 4 coachmen. 101 cooks and servants, 40 janitors, 16 doctors of medicine, 8 lawyers and 2 missionaries in foreign countries.
