RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Friday, June 23.

Thomas Wade was indicted for stealing an Inverness cape, of the value of 355., the property, of E. Buxton and Co.
Jesse Jennings deposed, that he was a storeman at Buxtons, and waß in the shop about six o'clock last night. There was an Inverness cape hanging at the doorway, the one produced, the prisoner was standing in front of the ahop window, there was another man with him. 1 heard him say, " It's no use, some one is coming." The prisoner went away, and returned. I Baw him go out of the door with the coat on his arm, Schroder, and another assistant came and stopped him in tho street a few yards away. Gk Schroder sworn, said : I am shopman at Buxton and Cos., I was there at six o'clock last night, the coat produced is the one that was hanging in the doorway. I saw the prisoner come across the path and step into the store and unhook the coat, throw it across his arm, and walk off. I rau up and stopped him. The prisoner put the coat down in a recess as we were coming baok to tho store.
The Magistrate sentenced the prisoner to three months' hard labour.
