AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS.

An Act was passed by the General Assembly during the Session of 1867, which required that in the month of February. in each year, an account should be taken of all the land in cultivation within the Colony, and the agricultural produce thereof. In compliance with this Act, these statistics were taken in February last, and the returns have been published from time to time in the Government Gazelle. "We give below the returns for Nelson complete as published, and in a second table we give a statement of the crops estimated to have been raised in all the Provinces, and the average yield an acre of each kind, except for the Provinces of Auckland and New Plymouth, the returns for which we have not at hand. How far these estimated yields are to be relied upon we are unable to say, but if they are trustworthy, the superior productiveness of the land in Otago over all the other Provinces is very striking.
