TENDERS will be received at this Office, until Four p.m., on MONDAY next, from persons desirous of CONTRACTING to SUPPLY the undermentioned STORES, to be DELIVERED at the Howabd Stoke, on Soutli Buller Road, on or before MONDAY, the Fourth day of July next, viz : — 2,700 lbs. of Flour, in 50 lb. canvas bags 9 bags of Sugar, 56 lbs. each 3 half-chests Tea 1,000 lbs. HHENDERS will be received at this Office A (in duplicate), until MONDAY, 27th instant, at Noon, from parties willing to CONTRACT to CONVEY H.M. MAILS until 30th June, 1865 (or for a longer period if required by the PostmasterGeneral for New Zealand), to and from the Post Office, Nelson, and the Post Oflices at Stoke, Richmond, Waikea -west, Spring Grove, and Wakefield, on TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, and SATURDAYS, unless prevented by floods in the river. The Mails to arrive at the Nelson Office by Eleven o'clock, a.m.; and to leave at Three, p.m., on the above days. Further TENDERS will be received up to the above date, and for the same period, from parties willing to contract to CONVEY H.M. MAILS to and from the Post Office, Nelson, and Riwaka; leaving Mails at Appleby, Uppeb and Loweb Moutebe, and Motueka Poet Offices, on MONDAYS and THURSDAYS, unless prevented by floods. The Mails to be taken from the Nelson office at Ten, a.m. ; and to be delivered there on Tuesdays and Fridays. Also, TENDERS from parties willing to CONVEY the MAILS to and from Wakefield and Tadmor Post Offices, twice a month : should the service require alteration, notice will be given. And, for the CONVEYANCE of MAILS to and from the Post Office, Nelson, and the house of Robert Edmunds, Sububban-nobth, on WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS ; these mails to arrive at Eleven, a.m., at the Nelson Office, and to leave at Three, p.m., the same days. Securities for the due performance of these services will be required, in two sureties each : and the Post-master-General will have power to employ parties for the conveyance of the Mails, at their expense, should the contractors fail in the performance thereof. "VTOTICE IS HEEEBT GIVEN, that the X 1 following amended BY-LAW has been agreed to by the BOARD OF WORKS, and has been submitted to his Honour the Superintendent and his Executive Council for confirmation. By-Law, No. 5. Whebeas it is expedient to make further provision for the abatement of the nuisance and danger caused by the present growth of Furze or Gorse, &c., throughout the city of Nelson ; Be it Obdebed and Directed by the Board of Works for the Baid city, with the sanction of his Honour the Superintendent and his Executive Council, as follows, viz: — 1. The occupier, or in case there shall be no occupier, then the owner of any land upon which a gorse or other hedge shall be growing, adjoining any public Btreet or road, shall, so soon as the portion of the said street or road adjoining his said land shall be clear, thenceforward keep the same at all times clear of gorse or other obstructions which it may reasonably be supposed have proceeded from the said hedge ; and in case such occupier or owner, as the case may be, shall refuse or neglect to clear such road or street, after receiving seven days' notice to do so from the Board of Works, he shall be liable to a penalty of not exceeding 405., and to a further penalty of not exceeding 20s.' per week, for every week he neglects or refuses to comply with the order contained in the said notice. 2. Whenever gorse or any other inflammable plants shall be growing upon any land, in such thickness, height or quantity, as to be a nuisance to the public, or dangerous to any near or adjoining private property, the Board of Works may give the occupier or owner of such land seven days' notice to clear away or trim such gorse or other plants in such manner as may be directed by the said Board : and in case the said occupier or owner shall fail to comply with the said notice, he shall be liable to a penalty of not exceeding 405., and to a further penalty of not exceeding 20s. per week, for every week such gorse remains uncleared or untrimmed. 3. Whenever any gorse is growing upon unoccupied hind, and the owner of the land is absent from the province, it shall be lawful for the Board of Works to cause such gorse to be trimmed or cleared as they may direct, and the expense of so doing may be recovered at any future time, within six years, from the owner or occupier of such land, in a summary manner, before any Resident Magistrate, or two Justices of the Peace. Mutton— half a sheep or hind quarters, per lb. Veal, per lb. Lamb, „ Pork, „ Bread, „ Flour, per 100 lbs. Tea, per chest Sugar, per cwt. Candles, composites, per lb. Best Soap, per cwt.
