The brig Lallah Rookh, Captain Greig, from Nel son, is on the bight of the oyster bank, ut Newcastle She will probably get off when the tide turns. — Syd ney Morning Herald, March 13. Wreck of the Ship Indian Ocean. — Intelli gence reached Liverpool on January 24, to the effec that the Bhip Indian Ocean, belonging to the Blacl Ball line of Australian clippers, had been wrecked a Annestown, on the Wexford coast, and that all oi board had perished. Fortunately, so fay as the los: of life is concerned, the report turns out to be un founded. Captain Hutchison, the commander, witl his crew, arrived in Liverpool on the 25th. But although no lives have been sacrificed, the ship hai been lost, with her cargo. The Indian Ocean, o 1,019 touß, sailed from Liverpool for Sydney on thi 20th of January, with a valuable cargo.

The question of the salvage claimed on the gol( saved from the Empress of the Sea, was made thi subject of a motion in the Vice- Admiralty Court re cently. It will be recollected that the total value o the gold amounts to some £80,000 or £90,000, anc that the claim made by Pilot Dean and the othe salvors is one-third of the gross value. An applica fcion was made yesterday that this gold, which hac been seized by the Marshal of the Court, should bi given up to the owners, the Oriental and New Soutl Wales Bank Corporations, on their giving securitj for any amount together with costs, which may be adjudged to be due to the salvors, in an action nov pending. The Court decreed that the gold Bhould b< given up on security being given for one-third of the value of the gold, which is the amount claimed a: salvage. — Mining Herald.
