Masonic Dinner. — The brethren of the Southern Star Lodge of Free Masons celebrated the festival of St. John the Evangelist on Saturday, the 27th instant, at the Wakatu Hotel. Having met at high noon, and installed the officers for the ensuing year, they adjourned until six o'clock, when they sat down to an excellent dinner, provided by the landlord, Brother Sullivan, in his usual good and substantial style. Brother Nathaniel Edwards, the newly-installed W. M., was in the chair, supported by his wardens, Brothers Renwick and Sharp. The usual loyal and masonic toasts were given, and the health of Captain Scott was, in connection with the order, drunk in a warm and enthusiastic manner — the brethren thus testifying their appreciation of his valuable services to their lodge. The hilarity of the evening was kept up until the hour for parting, when the brethren separated, highly gratified at the manner in which they had been entertained.
