To the Editor of the Chelmsford Chronicle.
Respected Friend— ln the Chronicle of this week I observe some account of an outrage committed upon me by the boys of the Brorasgrove Grammar School, and as I am an Essex man, and have many friends and connexions in that country, I feel disposed to send thee the full particulars for insertion. In the Worcester paper which I send, tbou wilt find under the head of " Lynch Law." a correct account of what transpired. The head master was at Oxford at the time, and the others all happened to be absent all the time I was at the school, three-quarters of an hour; but I fully exonerate them from any knowledge of what was going to take place. I send a copy of an apology which I have received from the boys, and which in obedience to my Christian principles, I accept in preference to the alternative of law proceedings for damages ; the cause of offence was my having exhibited in my shop window a paper (which I also enclose), stating some of the reasons why, in common with many other Christian professors, I could not join in the observance of the day on which the late Duke of Wellington was buried. I am, &c, Joseph Dell. Bromsgrove, I2mo. 21st, 1852.
