O, dear friends, I hardly knew, When I came by, that it were you, Come, winna now ye serve me true? Quoth they, that's like a gawkie ! We'll not serve you, we'll serve na ane, Nor sell our kintrie for a name ; Sac ye may gang the gate ye came, And tell it to your dawtie. The laddies fast frae him. then flew And left poor Georgy sair to rue That e'er a Nommi Bill he drew, Or the Doctor cad a gawkie : And as they gade alang they sang, And all the beach wi' echoes rang, And all the beach wi' echoes rang.
