BY virtue of the powers given to me for that purpose, I, the Governor-in-Chitf, do hereby • proclaim that the provisions of an ordinance of the Lieutenant- Governor and Legislative Council of New Zealand, made and passed in the eleventh year of the reign of her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled "An Ordinance tor regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in certain Places," shall come into operation from and after the fint day of March, 1848, within the town of Ne'ton, in the said colony (the limits of which are defined in a map or plan deposited in the office of the Resident Magistrate, for the district of Nelson aforesaid), so far only as it applies to the licensing of slaughter-houses, or places for slaughtering cattle, and for regulating the' same, as prescribed by the taid ordinance.
