WOMEN THREATEN TO RIOT

FOOD CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN

London, Nov. 29. Women in the United Kingdom would riot soon unless something was done about the food and shopping situation. A deputation of three housewives and four male members of the Willesden Chamber of Commerce today warned the Director of Rationing. The deputation was supporting an anti-queue campaign which has led to the formation of the British Housewives’ League. The housewives demanded first, that licenses should be granted for new shops based on present populations; secondly, ration books for all goods purchasable from greengrocers; thirdly, more fish shops to be openecT and operate regular hours; fourthly, stricter control of hotels and catering establishments; fifthly, better distribution of food, with an increased ration for adolescents and an improved fat ration to tubercular patients; and sixthly, housewives to be allowed to choose their own milkman.
