CONCESSIONS FOR CHRISTMAS SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER OF SUPPLY (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. Rationing concessions for the Christmas season were announced to-day by the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan. They include an extra half-pound of butter for eaoh ration book and the increase in value of certain meat coupons. It has also been decided to advance by one week the validity of food ration coupons that would normally become available on 24th December. This means that they may be used on and after 17th December. “The present butter ration does not leave anything to spare,” said Mr Sullivan, “and I have pleasure in announcing that an extra half pound against each ration book will be available from Ist to 25th December to assist housewives to do their usual Christmas baking. This additional amount is provided by declaring butter coupon No. 8 available for Bozs during the period mentioned. Retailers are to supply their registered customers and cancel the coupon in the usual way.” "With meat, to assist in providing thp Christmas joint, the strip of coupons No 8 is increased in value by 0d for adults and 3d for children, giving the variable coupons the value of 9d for H 8 and 6d for J 8 in the North Island and lid for H 8 and 8d for J 8 in the South Island.
