BRITISH REVOLUTION AHEAD GOVERNMENT AS MASTER BUILDER STATEMENT IN HOUSE OF COMMONS London, Nov., 27, Britain is to have a revolution with the Government firmly taking over the role of master builder, says the “Daily Mail.” The Minister of Works. Mr Tomlinson, outlining housing plans in the House of Commons, explainer that the Government intended—(l) To manufacture fittings and components in Roya! ordnance factories. (2) To place bulk purchase orders with the trade. (3) To build houses on behalf of local '.v+horitles. (4) To establish distribution centres to which makers will send temporary housing components. (5) To organise and supply labour.

The Ministry of Works will plan the best use of labour, work out details of the components needed and will be responsible for basic materials like bricks and cement. The Ministry of Supply will be responsible for articles f- >m baths to stoves and the Board of

Trade for such things as timber, paint and building material.

The Bill provides for a £100.000,000 fund to form the working capital of the Ministry of Works to finance the prDduction of building materials, prefabricated houses tor bulk purchases from the trade and also building houses for local authorities. The Government i tends to carry out a full programme fo. 165.000 temporary houses at an estimated cost of £200,000.000.
