NELSON BUTCHERS MEET
NO STATEMENT ON DECISIONS The meeting of master butchers held in Nelson yesterday was attended by representatives from Takaka, Wakefield, and Richmond, and by all the master butchers of Nelson city. The secretary of the Nelson Master Butchers’ Union (Mr* A. A. Johnston), stated to-day that the resolutions passed by the meeting on the various matters under consideration had been forwarded to the national executive, but he was not in a position to state what tl.~ subjects discussed were, and he had been instructed tq make no press statement concerning the decisions made by the local union until they had been considered by the Dominion organisation.
The only decision which could be made known at present concerned the stocking of pork by local butchers. The meeting passed a motion stating that Nelson butchers were not prepared to handle pork at the present time because of the high ruling price for the stock which made the sale of pork at the fixed retail price an uneconomic proposition
