FINE AT FIRST Wellington, This Day. Situation: An anti-cyclone is north of the Dominion and a deep depression is passing in the south. Forecast to 5 p.m, Saturday: North-westerly winds soon predominating and freshening to-morrow, weather fine at first, but showers developing to-morrow al\put the ranges and a brief period likely elsewhere, temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Changeable westerly weather. Nine hours 28 minutes of bright sunshine were recorded yesterday, this being the best figure since last autumn. The bright sunshine of yesterday morning was followed by a few light sun showers, a rainbow appearing briefly in the eastern sky. But by sunset the sky was practically clear again. The Cawthron Institute recorded .5 of a degree of frost last night. To-day was again brilliantly sunny with a light northerly brdeze.
