BIG REDUCTION TO BE MADE Washington, August 28. Major-General Edwards, Assistant. Chief-of-Staff, told the House Military Committee that the army would be reduced from 8,000,000 to 2,500,000 by Ist July next, of whom 370,000 would be in Europe, and 830,000 throughout the Pacific. Ultimately the army would be well below 2,500,000. TO BE WITHDRAWN FROM IRAN The War Department announced that all American troops would be withdrawing from Iran by Ist November, except some air transport personnel and 26,000 guarding military'installations.
