NEW ZEALAND PEACE STAMPS

NO DECISION ON DATE OE ISSUE Wellington, Aug. 29. The recent announcement on the impending issue of a New Zealand set of peace stamps has created considerable interest, said Mr F. Jones, Acting-Postmaster-General, to-day. “Letters have been pouring into my department at such a rate that the task of acknowledging them has become one of some magnitude. From all quarters the the issue of peace stamps is warmly commended,” continued the Minister, “but as the majority of writers are including in their betters orders for stamps it is necessary to say that no definite information can yet be given as to the date they will be available for sale. This information will be given as soon as possible, but in the meantime philatelists should refrain from sending in their orders until the date of issue has been announced. Peace stamps will be used in place of current stamps of similar denominations for a period of approximately 12 months. Ample notice of their introduction will be given.”
