HUNDRED YEARS AGO TO-DAY
A NELSON CHRONOLOGY 30th August, 1845: The keel of a small schooner, of from about 35 tons, has been laid at Green Point by a man named McKenzie. She is intended for the coasting trade. At Massacre Bay the natives have a craft of 20 tons ready for sea. This has been built for them by some Europeans.— “Nelson Examiner.”
