CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED WIN lOR DOVEDALE HUIA RUNNERS UP Ground conditions were good for the Rugby match between Dovedale and Riwaka. played at Rugby Park. Mot ucka on Saturday when Dovedale defeated Riwaka by 14 points to 3. Riwaka fielded a man hort and were somewhat unlucky in not getting more points as the game was hard fought throughout. By winning this match Dovedale become winners of the competition and champion-hip shield. with Huia in second place, only one point behind. The latter won the benefit shield and Huia awarded to the winners of the last round. Riwaka gained the first points when P. Bickley picked the ball up after a forward rush and scored in the corner. Shortly afterwards Haycock, for Dovedale. evened the scores with a good try under the post.- Play was very even for a while until Riwaka were penalised for holding the ball, and C. HUIA DEFEAT UNITED The second senior game at Motueka on Saturday resulted in a very easy win for Huia by 31 points to 3. after a I one-sided game. United taking the field j with only 12 players. Huia opened the scoring early when Bisley scored a try originating from a good back movement. Fry converted. Soon afterwards, with Huia attacking hard. Shuker scored a nice try under the posts, whi‘h Fry also converted, giving Huia a lead of 10 points early in the game. Huia pressed home their advantage land T. Brougham scored from a forward j rush.
