TABLE TENNIS
AIR FORCE PLAYS POST OFFICE A table tennis team of W.A.A.F.’s and airmen from the local R.N.Z.A.F. station were recently the guests of the Post Office Social Club when some closely contested games were played. In the ladies’ singles, the visiting team won 10 games to 8; in the men’s singles the visitors won 11 games to 7; in the combined doubles honours were even; ladies’ doubles. Air Force 1, Post Office 2; men’s doubles, Air Force 2, Post Office 1. Air Force won 27 games and Post Office 21. WAKEFIELD BEATS STATE ADVANCES A very enjoyable table tennis evening was spent recently when the Wakefield Club was the guest of the State Advances Club. % The Misses V. and J. and Messrs P. and C. Close (Wakefield) proved too strong for the opposition in the singles and won all their matches as did Miss Holland and Mr Rowse for the State Advances. Wakefield were successful in 22 of the 36 singles, in one of the three men’s doubles, in two of the three ladies’ doubles and in two of the six mixed doubles, eventually running out winners by 27 games to 21.
A return match at Walcefield will be played shortly.
