MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Stoke branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the hall. Mrs Baigent. president, welcomed a good attendance of members and also a visitor to Stoke. After the usual business had been dealt with the president reported on her recent trip to Wellington as delegale to the W.D.F.U. conference. Afternoon tea. at which Mesdames Biggar. Robinson and Stride were hostesses, was fully appreciated. The competitions for the month resulted as follows; Arts and crafts: best article from old felt hat. Mrs Short 1. Mrs Cannington 2: garden: best bloom. Mrs Baigent 1. Mrs Hislop 2: home. 3 plain scones, Mrs Biggar. 1, Mrs Baigent 2. A demonstration of felt work making of posies and other articles, was given by Mrs Saunders. Stoke. The clever and artistic results in completed articles displayed were much admired, and Mrs Saunders was warmly thanked for her kindness.
