WEEK-END ACTIVITIES
Meri'an#” women of the armed forces wh'cT Visited' the Fighting Services Club during enjoyed the hospitality arid the facilities for rest and recreation provided for them there. On Saturday evening there was a large crowd of servicemen and their partners at the weekly dance the music for which was provided by an airman pianist from the Nelson R.N.Z.A.F. station. On Sunday evening there was again a very jolly crowd at the club and an informal dance was held, some of the guests and hostesses taking turns at the piano. About 280 hot meals were served during* the week-end, members of St. Mary’s branch of the W.W.S.A. assisting in preparing and serving luncheon on Sunday. A Wakapuaka resident donated a quantity of sausages, a contribution received with gratitude by the committee responsible for the catering.
