SYRIANS REFUSE CONTACT WITH FRENCH
UNCOMPROMISING ATTITUDE London, June 23. Latest reports reaching Cairo regarding the Levant indicate that Syrians continue to refuse any form of contact with the French, says a Cairo correspondent. This is deplored in both British and Arab circles where it is realised no settlement can be reached by an uncompromsiing attitude of this kind. Political circles hope a settlement may not be too far off, that Syrian blood will qool and that France after the British statement and the recent debate in Paris will prove more accommodating. FRENCH OFFICIALS DISMISSED The Lebanese Government has dismissed 40 French officials from key positions, says the British United Press Beirut correspondent. The .dismissals follow a joint Syrian-Lebanese decision to oust French civilian employees from the Levant.
